Milo was walking down the sidewalk along Raider Ally. Texas Tech college was off to his right, the fountains and statue of the Red Raider upon his horse gleaming in the Spring light. To his left were the stores and restaurants that served the students of the large campus. It was slightly cloudy out, but this did nothing to dampen his spirits as he tromped along, a slight smile gracing his vulpine muzzle. He thought over things he needed to do, and was satisfied that all were either done, or the due dates were far enough away to not be troubling. Yeah, everything was going fi-
“Milo! Heeeeey Milo! Wait up fox boy!” a young and excited voice cut through the air. Milo’s smile vanished, and his eyes rolled.
“Derek.” He muttered. Then, resuming a slightly more false smile, turned to face him. The otter was running up the street, his grey jacket billowing up behind him, brushing against his brown furred tail. He had a big grin on his thick muzzle, and his blue eyes were beaming at me. His deep navy colored shirt said in bold red lettering My Other Car Is A Surf Board. Milo had never known him to surf, or even own a car, let alone a surf board. He skidded to a stop, panting, but still grinning like a fool.
“Can’t I ever get rid of you?” Milo asked, but there was a playful edge to his voice.
“Course not foxy.” He replied, his voice still full of vigor despite the sprint.
“So, whacha want that made your run all the way from your comfortable dorm room to me?” Milo asked, crossing his arms over my brow FOX Racing hoodie. He just grinned wider, and Milo wasn’t sure if this was good or bad.
“Lookit what I got!” he held up a plastic bag so triumphantly, it looked like he was holding a brick of solid gold. In it were several white and blue pills.
“Oh gawd, are those drugs?” Milo asked, making a disgusted and confused face.
“Kinda sorta.” Derek chittered.
“Well what do you want me to do about it?”
“I want you to have some!”
“Yeeeeeaaaaaaah, and how long have you known me? I don’t do that kinda stuff.” Milo said, pushing the baggie away with a paw.
“Just try one, they’re called Stims or something. You get really hyper and… stuff!”
“No I wo-“ he was cut off as Derek reached in, grabbed a pill, and jammed it down Milo’s throat! He coughed and hacked, but was unable to spit it back out.
“What the hell man!?” he coughed. Derek just smiled at him. After a while, nothing happened.
“Why’d you do that!?”
“Trust me, you’ll like it.” He said, suddenly seeming a little more laid back.
Milo ended up walking back to the dorm. He had almost gotten into a fight with him right then and there, but there wouldn’t have been a use for it. So he had stalked off and left Derek with a look that obviously said he knew something Milo didn’t. But Milo didn’t get sick, or go insane, or explode, so I guess he just gave me a sugary pill or something to mess with me. But he didn’t know why he would play it this long. As he clacked away on the computer, his ears felt ichy, well, more so than usual. He ignored it for a time, but finally it was driving into the side of his head. But when he reached up to scratch them, he couldn’t find them. His paw hovered over the spot, and a round, to no avail.
“What?” he muttered, turning to look in the mirror. His ears were… gone! Then, he noticed that they weren’t. They had moved. To his shock, and almost horror, they were hanging at about the height that a human’s would, and were growing longer and leaner.
“What the FUCK did Derek give me!?” he yelled as the warm grey fur on his ears stated to spread, changing the color and texture of his rusty red fur. It washed over his eyes, reforming the pupils from a human round to a feline slit. It practically cascaded down, disappearing into his shirt and spreading out to his arms, a warm tingle following the phenomenon.
“Gah!!! Stop!” he yelped when he felt his muzzle shrinking. It collapsed back into his face, teeth realigning and becoming razor sharp at the canines. He gained a very human nose, even though it had a coating of fur. The ‘color’ finally reached the base of his tail, and it immediately start to thicken, the great fluff that once was a fox tail tapering down and thinning out. At the very end, a leatery triangle formed, and became highlighted with orange. Well, he would have noticed if he wasn’t so busy staring at his feet. The burst from the custom fit shoes, his four merging into three large toes. A thick claw was visible on each, and he could only star in shock. Then, the energy hit. He suddenly felt every single hair on his body as they brushed against something. I felt like he could run around the campus, and do it again a few more times for fun. He shot off the bed, heart pounding like it had a shot of adrenaline continuously flowing to it. He barely glanced that the mirror before the door was thrown open and a rusty brown creature that looked jus tlike him stood in the door way. It was Derek.
“Dude!” we both chorused. “Whatdayaywannado!?”
“I dunno!”
“Me neither!” They both almost literally rocketed out the door, laughing and yelling, banging on all the doors, their long tails slapping against the walls.
